Lately, it seems like more and more crossover vehicles are turning up on the market. Consumers are intrigued by the possibilities that these versatile vehicles offer, so it’s not surprising that manufacturers are taking notice. Crossover vehicles combine the high sitting position, in-control feel, and cargo capacity with the handling, fuel economy and convenience of a station wagon or hatchback.

While there’s a wide variety of sizes and styles covered by the crossover category, from the wagon-sized Subaru Forester to the full-size Audi Q7, many of the most recent crossover models share a sporty look that eschews the high, boxy profile of the traditional SUV. Crossover vehicles have taken over a larger and larger share of the US market in the last decade. A short list of crossover vehicles includes the Volkswagen Tiguan, the Hyundai Santa Fe, the Kia Sportage, the Toyota RAV4, and even the Porsche Cayenne. With the rising price of fuel and increasing awareness of environmental issues, it seems likely that more and more hybrid crossovers will appear on the market in coming years.
